Creative Director on Innovate!
Innovate! the board game aims to improve how policymakers work together, strategise and incorporate the views of key stakeholders to address large-scale issues, such as air pollution, data ethics or inequality.
I pitched and secured funding from the client Nesta UK then went on to build a team and deliver the product.
The project was six months during my time at Digital Liberties.

Step 1: Securing the client
Together with an exec producer, we prepared a pitch document in order to secure the client. I co-wrote the narrative and strategy, designed the treatment and liaised with the client.
No spoilers, we got the gig!
Step 2: Building the team
I used my network to build a team and hired one game designer and an artist.
The game designer and I worked closely with policymakers, learning about the intricacies of their work to better tailor the game for them.
Step 3: Iteration
We got to a prototype within a few weeks and would play it daily amongst ourselves, the client and externals sourced from our networks.
In the lead up to launch I flew to Boston where I gave a talk at MIT on the development of the game. We playtested it with policymakers and gained valuable insight.
Step 4: Production
For physical production I directed our artist to produce final assets and liaised with a boardgame printer.
Step 5: A happy client!
We successfully delivered the project on time and budget. The game is currently being used by Nesta UK to train and foster discussions among policymakers.
